Every object above absolute zero radiates infrared energy. Planck's law describes how that radiation is distributed across wavelength, the Stefan–Boltzmann law relates total radiated power to the fourth power of temperature, and Wien's displacement law tells us where the peak sits. Near room temperature that peak falls in the long-wave infrared band, 8 to 14 µm. A microbolometer array measures the energy arriving in that band and, given a known emissivity, converts it to a temperature — without touching the object.
Our Windows application handles live view, regions of interest, minimum, maximum and average values, trend plots and alarms, with export to Excel and MP4 and retention of raw data for re-analysis later. An SDK is available where the system is being embedded into your own application.
