A thin-film photovoltaic module is not built from separate cells wired together. It is deposited as continuous layers and then divided into series-connected cells by three laser scribes. P1 cuts the back contact, isolating one cell from the next. P2 cuts through the semiconductor layer to open a via that carries current between adjacent cells. P3 cuts the front contact to complete the isolation. The three scribes must sit within a narrow dead zone — every micron of misplacement is module area that generates no power, and a scribe that cuts too deep or too shallow shunts the cell.
Our Windows application handles live view, regions of interest, minimum, maximum and average values, trend plots and alarms, with export to Excel and MP4 and retention of raw data for re-analysis later. An SDK is available where the system is being embedded into your own application.
