A precision DPSS-laser scribing platform engineered for P1, P2 and P3 scribing of thin-film photovoltaic materials — FTO, ITO, perovskite, SnO₂ and TiO₂. Designed and manufactured in India.

Features & capabilities

Every subsystem, purposefully designed

  1. Three-wavelength DPSS source — 1064 / 532 / 355 nm

    Wavelength selected to match the absorption of the layer being removed, so each scribe cuts what it should and leaves what it should not.

  2. Line width — 20 µm

    Narrow scribes keep the dead zone small, so more of the module area generates power.

  3. Substrate capacity — 300 × 300 mm

    Full research and pilot-line substrate sizes on a common stage.

  4. Precision motion stage — Multi-axis

    Coordinated axes hold scribe straightness and dead-zone width across the full substrate.

  5. Vision alignment — Machine vision

    Substrate registration so P2 and P3 land at the correct offset from P1.

  6. Process recipes — Stored parameters

    Wavelength, power, frequency, speed and offset stored per material stack and recalled by name.

  7. Safety enclosure — Class 1 operation

    Interlocked enclosure with a viewport rated for the wavelengths in use.

  8. SPPL control software — Windows

    In-house software for job setup, live monitoring, logging and export — written and supported by us.

  9. Support & warranty — 1 year, in-country

    One year warranty from acceptance, minimum five years spares, service and training by our own engineers.

Principle of operation

The P1–P2–P3 monolithic interconnect

A thin-film photovoltaic module is not built from separate cells wired together. It is deposited as continuous layers and then divided into series-connected cells by three laser scribes. P1 cuts the back contact, isolating one cell from the next. P2 cuts through the semiconductor layer to open a via that carries current between adjacent cells. P3 cuts the front contact to complete the isolation. The three scribes must sit within a narrow dead zone — every micron of misplacement is module area that generates no power, and a scribe that cuts too deep or too shallow shunts the cell.

SPPL software, written and supported by us

Our Windows application handles live view, regions of interest, minimum, maximum and average values, trend plots and alarms, with export to Excel and MP4 and retention of raw data for re-analysis later. An SDK is available where the system is being embedded into your own application.

Because the software is ours, a change you need is a change we can make — you are not waiting on an overseas vendor's release cycle.
